Final Performance Day

So we had two performances today, i think even though i went wrong in the physical score i enjoyed the one to parents only because it felt more like a performance!
everybody was on a high right before as we had an amazing lunch just relaxing and chasing some school boys as you normally do on a day to day basis!
I think i have to say my favourite bit is when we all walk “into the light” as it just allows us to show raw emotions and because I’m best at acting it feels more natural to act than to dance.
my mum and nan came to watch it, they said they really enjoyed it and loved it but didn’t understand it. My mum said it was 100% original and she could see that clearly, she thought it was well rehearsed/choreographed, she liked when the music was loud and you can hear it and see us moving to the beat, she didn’t really understand the physical score bit and why it was there she said its because she’s not creative enough to this of that! (in her words not mind) she liked how there was lots of different things to watch at one time and it was one focus point however, with the bit when Adlen and Dans baby is growing she said she couldn’t see it and if it should have been in a central point if was a central bit. she said it was fluent but she wanted to see a bit more dancing because I’d told her it was a dance piece. With canary wolf business bit she said we should make it a bit more clear, maybe of had a tie and in a simple line formation to make it stand out a lot more. but she really enjoyed it.
I think i was really nervous before and during! but i think well hope i’ve done it to the best of my abilty! i took on Jamie and Elles feedback about showing how you died clearer and so i had my hand to my head and took it away to signify my head was bleeding from being in a car crash and i had cuts down my face and i was confused to why i had them because i died on impact in the car crash i was involved it. I think i could have had a little bit more of a rush when i ran back i felt it was a bit sloppy and faked, so i think even though i enjoyed it i think i could have had more of a desperation to live.
The HND’s come to watch our 2pm showing and they said they really enjoyed it and didn’t really have any negative feedback which is always a good sign! I remember standing up stairs and not knowing they were coming saw Wayne their tutor turned round to someone i can’t remember who and said “the HND’s are here!!” and they all ready knew i was shocked i didn’t realise (poppy moment or what eh?!)
we had a bit of an emotional start to our last performance we had Nikki, Adlen and god knows who else crying as Jamie and Elle were talking to us, it’s just nice to know that they are here for us and we as a crew/family are here for each other too! after the show Nikki was crying -because she fell over which nobody saw but everyone was just concerned at she was feeling and what they can do the help and i love the fact that we are like a family!
I havn’t wrote much today because i’m all in abit of a haze about today really its just been great, so man great moments to many to document all of them!
I think everyone did brilliantly today and i couldn’t ask for a better crew/family!

Blog It: Performance Two

I was proud that in the first production i remembered everything in the right order and i think i became part of the space and i think i stayed in character for most of the time.

My objective for this performance was to:
Enjoy my roles and try and develop my characters, by improvising when just one of the public.
- I really enjoyed this performance i think it is by far the best we've done, and i think i did develop my character a bit by during the love duets jolting as an impulse, as my character has been in a car crash and I'm remembering it and so it gives the audience an idea of why I'm going into the light...

Before this performance i was a lot less nervous because we'd performed the day before, but right when the music started and the boys started doing their duo, i got nervous at the end of the day every performance your going to be nervous before its how you use that to your advantage that matters.

I felt that i was a lot stronger in my performance today, i felt i brought a more, deeper and raw emotions into it. I used emotional memory to create a more believable emotion during the squares section. I felt i stayed focused through-out i didn't corpse at the seconds years, there wasn't any confusion regarding the running order and i just felt a positive vibe from the audience, and the cast - it was a great feeling!

Feedback:
- some people where intimidated by the intimacies of the space and the emotions.
- Dionne said we changed the energy of the whole building( first time in 100 years )
- We broke boundaries and it was said that the audience didn't know how to react.
- Kerry said that it was an amazing achievement for us to have done this in our first year as there wouldn't have been able to do it when they were in the first year.
- We got the blood pumping around the building (again for the first time in 100 years)
- one boy said he was laughing at us which was good because there are different reaction from different people

"ts hard to perform in front of an audience that aren't there to be your audience"

We shouldn't be apologetic to the people in Bourne Hall in our minds, body and eyes because it shows them that were not confident and makes them right that we shouldn't be there, but when we are performing its our space we need to OWN IT!

So afterwards i was hot, but other than that i was jumping for joy ( literally - ask Chelsea) i felt it was amazing, i personally don't know how we will top that but knowing us we will, easily!

The moment i enjoyed the most was probably the physical scores again because i love freaking people out and they don't know where its coming from.

My least favourite part is during the physical score part the sound of the heart - i don't like doing that because i think it's weak, it doesn't sound like a heart, and so i go fast as i want to get it over with but then Dan, Nikki & Alice's physical score is delayed because that's one of their ques
Eeeek!
New material, that scares me! we've only just got confident that we know the running order and now were changing adding and developing it! I am excited to see how and what will be added and changes, i know we can easily do it and make it like we've had it in this all the time!

I'm nervous but excited about tomorrow, first to see whats going to change and then our family coming to see us! but I'm scared that there will be too many people and we won't be able to move! and that I'll be to scared and just freeze - which I'm sure i wont!
This is the morning before our first Performance! :)

Performance One

So today i was feeling positive about our performance in the afternoon, however this didn't last long as my WHOLE water bottle leaked into my bag in the morning, and soaked EVERYTHING in my bag including my costume (but luckily what i was wearing was okay) so i was panicking about that! but i got to bourne hall extra early and put it in the sun and it dried a bit. but when everyone started arriving i was happy again :)

When the Jamie arrived it wasn't like 'quick quick Jamie's here' and we dived right into practising, there was an ease into which i think helped calm everyone own. We warmed up which lacked energy a bit because we was in the sun and i personally don't like that particular warm up, but we need warming up so...
We then went over revolve which was confusing because we'd had a weekend without thinking about it but when we disused it, it went smoothly(ish)

I think the exercises with Elle where we had to run through our blocking, really helped because it makes you identify what part your a bit hazy on and which parts your good with, and then you just go over and over the parts your hazy on.

I think Nikki getting elbowed in the face wasn't a good thing to happen before a performance! but she was okay so that's good! I panicked a little bit when Chloe started saying her back we in pain, I've heard her say it before but we were about to go and do a performance, but she's a little solider she carried on!

I think just before the performance when everyone was doing their hair & make-up there was a positive vibe in the room, i think everyone was waiting to see what it's going to be like, and i think people were thinking 'I'm nervous lets get on with this' but when it got really near i think people started to panic i know Nikki did when she couldn't get her lip piercing out! and i couldn't find a clip for my hair. I was panicking by thinking that we hadn't gone over anything from before Ollie's solo and i was scared we'd forget the 3 points to look at but we didn't so thumbs up! :)

I personally feel that overall the performance went really well! i felt the only time i came out of character was in the physical score part and only for a couple of seconds. I think i was focused and calm and collected through-out the piece i don't think anyone forgot where to be or what part was next, before the physical score i made my way to my place and i didn't feel the need to remind Chloe that we needed to go upstairs and when i was up their i looked to my left and she was there so i know i can trust every single performer in this piece to be where they need to be! I remember being told i nearly run into a man when we were doing the death line, and so i used the paintings reflection to guide me and make sure i can see behind me which i thought was quite clever :P

I've decided i like it better when bourne is relatively empty because i won't panic and keep think i have to dodge that person, oh that person is in my space what do i do? I'm quite scared for Thursday night and i know there's at least 50 people coming and the majority of them will be standing in the center and that's where most scenes happen!

With the baby section i feel i connected more with the imaginary baby more than i have done, i think portrayed more emotion is what I'm trying to say, i used emotional memory to take me back to Sunday when i went to visit my new born baby cousin!

this section is bout creation and how the world begins, with birth i think back to this gorgeous little girl (not named yet) and any other pregnancy and think its amazing how we are made and created, the fact that someone is growing us in them its incredible and i love that we are sharing that with people who might not even be able to have babies. :)

I enjoy the fact that when we do the physical score, we freak people out, i was hesitant towards doing them in this space, i thought it wouldn't fit in with the piece but it does. I Officially take it back. I like that we freak people out but them not knowing where the noises are coming from.

I don't really enjoy the points, only because i think its just there past the time, i do understand it and that its showing the boring everyday lives of businessmen and how they are so structured and have the same routine in the mornings, i think i need to create a character and that way i can feel like I'm living out there life because at the moment I'm just thinking 'ok this is point one' etc..

I think i was in the moment i think i could maybe bring more emotion into the whole thing a bit more, but i think i wasn't faking and i think it was a consistent emotion through-out which maybe wrong and i might need to change that.

There was quite a few different reactions from the audience none to me personally but there was and it is funny to see how different people reaction, there was a mother who as soon as the boys where throwing the ball she protected her baby, one man said to the boys to pick up the football and one women was nodding and singing along to the music at one point. There was a man "counting windows" as he was, he was watching our performance, it makes me think was he really counting windows or did he not want his boss knowing he was watching...?
One ladie said it was fabulous, like live art,  it was different and she enjoyed it and it gave her goosebumps.

After i felt relief, but also because there isn't a bow at the end or an applause so i felt the piece was unfinished but i feeling postive and glad it all went well.

Sad

In Squares i think i need to make more of a story with my feelings, i need to connect more with the emotion, i need to think back to emotional memory and emotional eyes.
